01 · Understanding With Eric

A host who gets out of the way.

The common thread across trivia, karaoke, DJ sets and wedding ceremonies is the same: bring people together, make them comfortable, and keep the night moving. The preparation is real, but nobody in the room should have to notice it.

900+

Events hosted. Pub trivia, karaoke nights, private parties and ceremonies.

Services under one name, which is why the brand can't be built on one of them.

The current identity

TRIVIA. KARAOKE. EVENTS. WITH ERIC.

Simplified recreation of withericentertainment.com

Keep

  • The voice. Lines like "the night isn't supposed to be about the host" already do more than most logos.
  • The warm, dark atmosphere and orange-gold light. It feels like a room at 9pm.
  • The little orange dot. It's the seed of a real mark.
  • Clear services and a clear booking path.

Fix

  • There is no logo yet: a dot and the full name in a default sans.
  • "Entertainment" gets the same weight as "With Eric."
  • Condensed all-caps headlines with a plain sans are the most common pairing on entertainment templates.
  • Trophy, mic, headphone and heart icons say what every DJ site says.
  • Nothing ownable for a shirt, a banner or a 40px profile picture.
02 · Positioning & the creative opportunity

Most hosts brand themselves. Eric brands the room.

The guests are the headline.

Trivia teams, karaoke regulars, a dance floor, a couple at the altar. Eric's job changes from night to night, but his role doesn't: set the room up so everyone else can shine, then step back. The identity should do the same. Confident enough to be remembered, quiet enough to let the night take over.

What the identity has to do

Confident, not loudExperience shows in restraint. No shouting, no lightning bolts.
Clever, not cornyOne good joke beats five puns. Dry wit over wacky.
Warm, not cuteWelcoming to first-timers, credible to a wedding planner or HR team.
Flexible by serviceSame brand on a Tuesday trivia post and a ceremony program.
Works small and in one colorA 40px avatar, an embroidered cap, a black-and-white flyer.
Concept A · The confident wordmark

House Lights

House lights are the ones that shine on the audience, not the stage. This direction is quiet, assured and a little theatrical: a classic serif "Eric," an italic "with" tucked above it, and the orange dot from today's site promoted to a full stop. It reads like a name you can trust with a wedding and still makes sense on a bar chalkboard.

Primary logo

Creative rationale

The period is the idea. "With Eric." is a complete statement, a confident one, and it doesn't need anything else. The ember dot keeps continuity with what people already know and works alone as a signature on everything from social posts to stage signage.

Personality

Unhurried, assured, dry. The friend who's done this 900 times and makes it look easy.

Logo direction

Custom-tuned high-contrast serif with tightened spacing, italic lowercase "with," brass rule and tracked "Entertainment."

Graphic elements

The ember dot, soft pools of light ("spill"), thin brass rules and program-style lists for rounds, sets and run-of-show.

Photography

Low-light documentary. Warm practical light, candid crowd reactions, shot from behind the host toward the room.

Where it shines

Weddings, corporate events, upscale venues and anywhere Eric needs to look established. It needs more care to feel playful on high-energy karaoke posts, which is why the supporting italic voice carries the jokes.

Across event types

One system, four rooms
Trivia

Program-style round cards and answer sheets. Gloock numerals, brass rules.

Karaoke & Name That Tune

Bone backgrounds and the italic voice for the jokes. Song slips in the same style.

Weddings

Ink and bone only, ember dot as a quiet signature on programs and the officiant bio.

Corporate & private

Horizontal mark sits cleanly beside a client logo on slides and event signage.

Concept B · The clever connection

Good Company

Every night Eric runs is about the people in the room: a trivia table, a birthday crowd, a dance floor, two families at a ceremony. This direction borrows the warmth of the classic supper club, where a great host made everyone feel like a regular. Deep bottle green, champagne and a coral spark, with a signature script and a round coaster mark that sits on every table.

Primary logo · the coaster roundel

Creative rationale

The coaster is the one thing on every table Eric works: the bar at trivia, the cocktail hour, the company mixer. A mark built like a coaster becomes something people pick up, keep and flip over. The script name feels personal without leaning on a pun, and the line "Good company, well hosted" fits whether Eric is quizzing, DJing or officiating.

Personality

Warm, polished, quietly funny. The host who remembers your name and your drink.

Logo direction

A custom script "Eric" with a small coral "with," set inside a coaster roundel that carries "Entertainment · Hosting since 2017."

Graphic elements

Coaster rings, a four-point sparkle used once per layout, double rules and tracked small caps, like a supper-club menu.

Photography

Warm tungsten and candlelight. Tables, toasts, hands mid-clap, glasses on coasters. Close and intimate rather than wide crowd shots.

Where it shines

Weddings, private parties and upscale venues feel natural, and the lounge warmth makes karaoke feel like a night out instead of a bar gimmick. On loud weekly promos the tracked caps carry the energy, since script alone can read too soft.

Across event types

Same room, different night
Trivia

Bottle green and champagne. Coasters on every table double as team numbers.

Karaoke & Name That Tune

Oxblood and coral. Lounge-singer warmth instead of neon and lasers.

Weddings

Green and champagne only. The script reads like a printed invitation; the roundel becomes a seal.

Private, DJ & corporate

The horizontal mark and menu caps handle proposals, signage and run-of-show sheets.

Concept C · The modern entertainer

Keep It Moving

Eric's own rule, turned into an identity. Wide, heavy type that leans forward, a single arrow that always points to what's next, and a near-black ground lit by one bright accent for each kind of night. It's the most energetic of the three, and the dark base keeps it grown-up enough for a ceremony program or a company party.

Primary logo

Creative rationale

A good host is pacing: next round, next singer, next song. The arrow after "Eric" is forward motion, not a gimmick, and it becomes the system's connective tissue: "Trivia → Tuesdays," "Round 2 →," "Book a date →." On a dark base, one accent color per service makes a busy weekly calendar instantly readable.

Personality

Upbeat, sharp, efficient. Fun with a clipboard in its back pocket.

Logo direction

Extra-wide black grotesk set tight, "With" in tangerine, a custom block arrow with the same stroke weight as the letters.

Graphic elements

The arrow, rounded pill labels, oversized numerals for rounds and dates, flat dark panels with one accent. Nothing that reads nightclub.

Photography

Low-key, high-contrast photos on near-black: hands up, mid-answer reactions, singers lit from the side.

Where it shines

Weekly trivia and karaoke promotion, venue posters, Name That Tune and anything that needs to stop a thumb. For weddings and corporate the accents drop away to night and chalk, and the arrow does the work alone.

07 · Our recommendation

Concept A, House Lights.

It's built on what Eric already likes, the dark room and the ember-orange glow, and it turns them into a real, ownable identity.

  • It covers every job. Equally at home on a trivia flyer, a private DJ proposal and a ceremony program.
  • It matches how he hosts. Confident without being loud. The night isn't supposed to be about the host, and the mark doesn't shout either.
  • It keeps what's working. The orange dot people already know becomes the signature, so the change feels like an upgrade, not a rebrand.
  • It scales down. The "e." monogram holds up as a social avatar, an embroidered cap and a browser icon.
Worth discussing with Eric: if he's drawn to B's warmth, its coaster roundel could live inside A's system as merch and table pieces. If he wants more energy for weekly promos, C's one-accent-per-night idea can organize the events calendar without changing the logo.
08 · Next steps

From direction to launch.

Once Eric picks a direction (or the best parts of two), we take it from concept to a complete, usable system and a new site.

Step 1

Choose

Eric reacts to all three. Favorites, dislikes, anything that made him laugh.

Step 2

Refine

Custom lettering, final proportions, color tuning, one-color and small-size testing.

Step 3

Build the system

Logo files, brand guide, and reusable templates for weekly trivia, karaoke and event posts.

Step 4

Design the site

Homepage and service pages, the events calendar, karaoke requests and a simple booking form.

Step 5

Launch kit

Business cards, venue signage, merch files and refreshed social profiles, all at once.
